Rafi's Story
Eight-year-old Rafi's journey captured the nation's heart when DIY SOS aired his story in October 2025.
After spending a year in hospital following life-changing brain damage from E. coli, Rafi needed more than just a home, he needed an environment designed to aid in his recovery and independence.

Designing for the future
When Rafi returned home after his year-long hospital stay, his family faced the heartbreaking reality that their house wasn't suitable for his complex care needs.
The DIY SOS team assembled Hampshire and Surrey's finest trades companies to create a space that would support Rafi's remarkable recovery journey.
Working with Gaby Blackman, our brief was clear: create a beautiful wardrobe solution for the parents of Rafi to give them a beautiful, adult space, that they can enjoy.
What we did
Every cut, every joint, every screw of this wardrobe was done with care, knowing it would help make daily life a little smoother for Rafi and his family.
Our team handled:
-
Design, manufacture and installation of a fully bespoke fitted wardrobe, tailored to maximise space and accessibility.
-
Coordination with the DIY SOS team to ensure perfect integration within the newly refurbished home.
-
Attention to detail on finishes, materials and fittings, ensuring the result was functional, elegant, and built to last.
We wanted to create a space where the family could find comfort and normality again, a wardrobe where clothes hang ready for a new day, in a home filled with new hope.

Why it matters
For us, this project represented everything that’s good about our craft, teamwork and the belief that great design can genuinely improve people’s lives.
Seeing the smiles, the tears and the gratitude of Rafi’s family reminded us why we do what we do.
Being featured on BBC DIY SOS is an incredible honour, and being invited back for another build tells us that the care and dedication we put into every project truly stands out.
Whether it’s a large-scale media unit project or a home renovation, we bring the same level of precision, empathy and pride to every job across Hampshire and Surrey.

Thank You
A heartfelt thank you to the entire DIY SOS team, designer Gabrielle Blackman, presenter Nick Knowles, and the incredible volunteers who gave their time and skills to make this transformation possible.
Rafi, we hope you and your family love your new home, you deserve every bit of happiness.
